Lightworks

I woke up one morning with this song in my head, no knowing where it came from.

After a quick Youtube and Google research I ended up looking into the work of Raymond Scott. Born in 1908 and dead in 1994 Raymond Scott was a cartoon music composer and an electronic instrument inventor amongst others.

Today, we still hear his work in modern artists’ work like Gotye or Gorillaz.

Abbey McCulloch

I must be honest, I discovered Abbey McCulloch thanks to The Jealous Curator.

Women all in color and yet carrying powerful expressions.

I leave you on this elegant note, good night !

Ride

Seeing Lana Del Rey’s tweet “like an American” reminded me I had to do a post about her. I heard she might stop performing on stage, but her new song “Ride” proves us she definitely isn’t retiring from music completely. A girl telling her story, running after freedom, from man to man… Her new song is both extremely inspiring and melancholic. What are your thoughts ?

Jean Paul Goude

If I am not mistaken, he was the director for this commercial I find very powerful :

And a little bonus from the artist Matthew DiVito

Yang Yongliang

Discovered him recently in an Exposition on Babel :

Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. As people moved eastward,[a] they found a plain in Shinar and settled there.

They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”

But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. The Lordsaid, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”

So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel —because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

What are your thoughts on this symbol ?
